ROSSO MONTALCINO LA PODERINA V22 – Bruno Dalmazio

La Poderina ‘s Rosso di Montalcino comes from the Castelnuovo dell’Abate vineyards, south of the town of Montalcino. The grapes are harvested by hand; fermentation and maceration in steel tanks take place at a controlled temperature (24°-26°C) with daily pumping over (to oxygenate the must and increase the exchange surface between the liquid and the pomace). After racking, the wine is transferred to another steel vat for a brief period of aging.
LA PODERINA MONTALCINO RED WINE: THE TASTING
La Poderina’s Rosso di Montalcino is a brilliant ruby red. The nose offers aromas of small red fruits, wildflowers, iris (so many irises color the hillsides along the streets of Castelnuovo in spring!), thyme, and burnt earth. The palate is refreshing, with well-defined tannins, a pleasant length, and an acidity reminiscent of orange zest. It’s delicious with classic Tuscan appetizers of cured meats, cheeses, liver pâté, and bruschetta, but also delightful with fried chicken or rabbit.
