BRUNELLO THE ESCAPE V13/18 – Bruno Dalmazio

Tasting Notes: Ruby red with garnet highlights. Intense on the nose, with hints of red berries, macerated flowers, and aromas of leather, incense, and cocoa. Warm and enveloping on the palate, with tannins melding into the body, it develops cleanly and austerely, with a spicy and balsamic finish. Tenuta La Fuga is located within the municipality of Montalcino. This estate is owned by sisters Fabia Cornaro dell’Acqua and Giovanna Cornaro Folonari, Ambrogio’s wife and Giovanni’s mother, respectively. It is located in the southwest part of the Montalcino area at an altitude of 400 meters above sea level, a place with breathtaking views, warmer temperatures, and a light, beneficial sea breeze that can be felt from afar. This area traditionally produces the softest and most rounded Brunellos, thanks to the composition of the soil and the unique microclimate. The 2011 Brunello di Montalcino DOCG “La Fuga” is made from Sangiovese grapes, fermented in stainless steel and aged for 4 years, including at least 24 months in 25-hl Slavonian oak barrels. Its class and personality are immediately evident on the nose, with highly complex aromas that delicately yet constantly emerge and multiply. First produced in 1996, this Brunello is a wine capable of defying time and a worthy testament to one of the world’s most renowned terroirs.
